In the village

We are located at the top of a very steep hill so there are several viewpoints to visit and narrow streets to get lost. You can have a walk full of beautiful surprises. In the historical center there are several tapas bars and small restaurants to rest and taste the delicious tapas and dishes of our Mediterranean food. There are also several monuments, churches, traditional houses and few museums to visit, as well as several handicraft shops, art galleries and souvenirs.

The Guadalete River surrounds the entire town so you can see it from all our viewpoints. It come from the lake at the foot of the village where you can enjoy different activities, rent Kayaks, pedal bikes, etc. There are also a small sandy beach with showers and umbrellas to enjoy on a beautiful day, watching the village since the lake.

The river surrounds the whole village and there are several old mills on it. Some of them was restored and you can visit them walking all along the river surrounding the town. There are some parts of this walking way that can be flooded by the river so we recommend you to ask when you arrive in the tourism office of Arcos de la Frontera. We also can find some others walking ways in other white villages (20 minutes by car). Between El Bosque and Benamahoma there is a very nice and easy walking (3-4km) to do with family and children. Starting in El Bosque you also can find a fish farm, but if you continue bordering the river Majaceite, you can enjoy the fresh whether (even in summer) or have a bath in the cold and crystalline water.

Route of the White Villages

The main attraction of the region is the "Route of the white villages" listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is a composed by 19 towns that have the same landscape features, such as white facades, tile roofs, narrow streets, olive cultivation or leather goods. All these similarities have survived since the time of Al-Andalus, and that is the reason why millions of travelers are tempted to know this magnificent area and its ancestral customs. The first village is called Arcos de la Frontera and it is the gateway of the route, where you can visit the Cork Oak Natural Park, that represents the largest cork oak forest in the world. It contains an important deer population that is placed in the third place of the natural spaces of Andalusia because its very large and beautiful. The route passes through the “Sierra de Grazalema” that is a Biosphere Reserve classified by UNESCO. There is a great ecological diversity with great relevance as well as a special protection area for the birds. It shares part of its territory with the province of Malaga. Each village has its particularity as small wineries, “Payoya” goat cheese factories, excellent leather goods such as in Ubrique, or the soft wool fabrics of the Grazalema looms. From Arcos to Ronda there is an hour and a half driving, but we recommend you to make an all-day-excursion because there are too many places to see and visit.

This city is located 30 minutes away by car from Arcos and you can visit its wineries and visit its monuments, old squares and historic streets full of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy all the wines of the area and its gastronomy. The hospitality of the population and the special and traditional meaning of the flamenco music is something that deserves an important relevance for any tourist. We recommend you to visit the Abasto market where you can find fresh product of the fishing activity of the zone and enjoy its exquisite elaboration in all the restaurants of the surrender.
One of the most emblematic bars of this neighborhood is “El Manteca”, where you can find the most bohemian people of the area. Due to the history and the location of Cádiz, it has a lot of culture, sports and social activity.

The beaches of this whole area have wonderful white sand and crystal clear waters. From Cadiz (45 minutes by car) to Tarifa (1 hour and a half) you can enjoy all the variety of the beaches since the most extensive ones to the small coves, passing by the best littoral villages such as Conil de la Frontera. The best of Conil is the outstanding gastronomy such as La Mejorana restaurant and Terrazas de La Mejorana. Also you can find beaches with immense sand dunes such as Bolonia and its Roman archaeological complex of Baelo Claudia.
